Eidetics Provides Engineering Analysis to NASA-Dryden Flight
Research Center, Edwards, CA
June 23, 1997 - Eidetics Corporation was contracted by NASA Dryden Flight
Research Center, Edwards, CA to perform preliminary engineering analysis and
cost estimation for a skin friction reduction experiment on a large passenger
jet aircraft.
This effort supplements the SBIR Phase II program Reduction of Aircraft
Cruise Drag by Using Boundary Layer Heating to Minimize Fuselage Skin Friction.
The analysis consisted of the overall feasibility of this experiment, the
estimated required heated acreage and power, the heater power sources, required
instrumentation to measure the predicted drag increment, the number of required
flights, and an itemized cost estimate for the complete experiment. |
